East Humber Trail is officially open!

On September 15, 2012 the Grand Opening unveiled Richmond Hill's much-anticipated recreational trail. The local community showed their enthusiasm and made the day a huge success. Marked by a ceremonial tree planting to commemorate the occasion, the trail is now complete and ready for all to enjoy.

Located northeast of Bathurst Street and King Road, between Verdi Road and Parker Avenue, this trail is approximately 2km long and is planned within the master plan of an interconnecting Town-wide trail system. Harrington McAvan Ltd. was retained to prepare the design and oversee the project's construction in conjunction with the Town of Richmond Hill.

Visit the Town of Richmond Hill for additional information and an East Humber trail map.

Tannery Pond Environmental Improvements receives the PRO Award for Excellence in Design...

Harrington McAvan Ltd's Tannery Pond Environmental Improvement Project for the City of Markham is the 2012 Winner of the PRO Excellence in Design Award from Parks and Recreation Ontario.

Tannery Pond is an important historical feature within Old Markham Village, containing the remnants of an original mill and dam structure, and the abandoned artesian wells that once supplied the City's drinking water.

A portion of the work was completed by Ontario Streams, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of streams and wetlands, and the project supports the efforts of the MNR and TRCA. The environmental improvements undertaken by the City of Markham at Tannery Pond exemplify the City's commitment to the natural environment and provide opportunities for residents and nature to coexist, while strategically addressing ongoing maintenance requirements in a sophisticated and informed manner.
